Is life a race?

While I was enjoying the scenic view along the way, this beauty caught my eyes.

Life, we tend to treat it like a race.

When looking around, we would see some friend is getting married. Some are starting a family. Some friends just graduated, got promoted, or moved to another state. Some just bought a new house or a new car.

At the same time, some of us are getting lost in our own world. Wondering if our college major is right for us. Hating the job we do. Stuck in a place. Facing financial crisis. Mental health breakdown. Haven’t found a soulmate, just broke up, or stuck in an unhealthy relationship. And so on.

When looking around and seeing these, we often feel bad about ourselves and may even start to question our capabilities. That’s because we treat life like a race between us, and others.
When the truth is, life is supposed to be a race between you and your inner-self.

It shall be about striving to be a better version of your past or current self.
It shall be about you refusing to drag yourself down by comparing and starting to believe in yourself that you are capable in your own way.
It shall be about you finding what you truly desire, and going for it.
It shall be about you accept that we are all different. We have our own potential, capability, and pace. It’s okay if you don’t get there as fast as others. But as long as you keep on going, you’ll be there.

Life is unpredictable. We shall not focus only on the peak. Let’s take some time to enjoy the scenic view along the way as well. Take some moment to appreciate the things you have done, or received so far.
If we treat our life as a race, spending time by continuingly comparing ourselves with others, we will be miserable.

Just like Nightbirde has said. “You can’t wait until life isn’t hard anymore before you decide to be happy.” (Rest well in peace, Jane the inspiring angel.)

PS: Just an article from the draft. Not much of a thing. This is just my thought. Wrote it down when I was feeling lost.
